New Chapter

Dot Griffiths was a very close friend of Richard and Christine Defoe and their children Julia and Suzanne for forty years. Dot had 'true grit' and she had it by the spadefull. She fought breast cancer with a strenght and tenacity which was totally breathtaking. She did it not just for herself but for all the other women who were HR2 positive and would respond to the new Herceptin drug. Against great odds she took on the establishment and she won through defeating the edicts of NICE and the injustice of the post code lottery. Dot leaves a legacy which shows what shear determination, hard work (the load of which would have defeated a fully fit woman) and complete refusal to give can do. Dot also leaves a void which will be impossible to fill and she will be sorely missed by her family and the scores of friends whose lives she helped so much.
